Appropriate in conjunction with the celebration of the 25th year Nokia Research Center, introduced a new handset named Nokia Gem. Previously we’ve heard the name Nokia Kinect or Nokia HumanForm, but, Gem has its own uniqueness.
Nokia Gem, a mobile phone whose entire body is a touchscreen display. Users can view pictures, text or interact with the cell phone from any part, front and rear.
No more casing that covers or protects the phone. So to say that body also serves as a screen or display. Gem can present a message on the back of the phone, can also zoom on both parts (front and rear) phones. Utilizing this function we can see the map on the front and turned it over on the back to see the map in more detail.
According to the Senior Section Manager of the Nokia Design team of developers who also chaired the Gem, Jarkko Saunamäki, when launching the application for Gem camera itself will look like a camera. Gem also can show 3D images allow us to look at from all sides.
The device is called Gem for precious stones has several sides, also because it is still a draft and needs to be developed / polished again to become real products ready for market.
